More information

The International MD Program is one of the first international medical programs offered in Italy and is specifically designed for training International Physicians able to provide core “global” competencies necessary for the safe, effective and ethical practice of medicine around the world.
The International MD Program wants to be an answer to a changing society where doctors need new skills to bridge gaps that senior colleagues did not have to cross and the language in which to teach these new doctors is English.
The International MD program is a six year, single cycle degree course with two preclinical years and three clinical years which aim to develop articulate medical skills both at theoretical and practical level. Clinical rotations and practical activities are done in the San Raffaele Hospital.
The sixth, and final, year is dedicated to the preparation of a thesis and to the acquisition of specialist notions that will facilitate access to residencies and post- graduate programs.
Part of these activities can also be carried out abroad through agreements with the different host institutions during the last terms of the program.
A select and limited number of students are admitted each year following an entrance test based on analytical and logical skills.
English is the official language for all lessons, practical activities and examinations but Italian language courses are organized during the first years in order to enable interaction with patients during the clinical years.
The IMDP study curriculum is periodically verified to ensure it meets international standards. Thanks to the collaboration with an external independent third party, our students get familiar with the main platform used for most common foreign licensing examinations.
Graduates from the International MD Program are awarded an M.D – Doctor of Medicine – degree recognized by the European Union, the World Health Organization, the British General Medical Council and by the US Educational Commission for Foreign Medical Graduates (ECFMG®)
